Me Oh My

FIVE weeks to go!

It's been quite a while since there has been an update! So here we go!

Wedding planning is going spectacularly.....actually it's been done for months...now it's a lot of little things...which is good because that helps to pass the time! I'm sure you can imagine the days are DRAGGING on....but the date will be here soon enough!

We booked our honeymoon!! Which we are so excited for! A week at a five-star resort in the Mayan Riveria! Cannot. WAIT. It's possibly going to be better than the wedding!! I kid...

In other non-wedding news. David got his contract extended at the Aquarium!! Which is FANTASTIC!!! Since he loves it SO much. So we're both thrilled that he gets to continue on!

A shot of the man hard at work

Shawna is still plugging away at the world of TV. Which is awesome because that's what she wants to do! Or be a court reporter....but that is the only other option...or a marine mammal trainer...She would rock at that.

Otherwise, life is lovely in this town we call home. It's been a short but beautiful summer. We found time to sneak up to Kelowna to visit a friend of ours. We went on a wine tour and visited the ancient O'Keefe Ranch...which was AMAZING. This whole ranch was basically a small town from the 1800's when cattle farming was huge. And it was all preserved and is an amazing historic site that you should visit if you get the chance.

We are really looking forward to seeing our families in October! It's the last scheduled time we'll see them, so it will be awesome to have them join us on the west coast for a PARTY!

Not sure if this will get updated pre-wedding....since I don't expect there to be much news other than wedding updates! So on that note....See you when we're Mr. and Mrs. Perry!!!

Love,

Us

Looking great!!

Hello Hello!!!

A quick update!

Things for us right now could not be more amazing! The wedding planning is sooooo easy...it's all done! Just waiting for RSVPs now!

Shawna (me) left my job at the Canucks Team store....not enough pay vs schedule vs no hockey = get me outta there! It's ok though. I've been working at Global a lot lately, and might even be heading back over to Victoria to work at Chek for a bit!

David is also leaving his job at the Arts Club Theatre fooooooooooooooooooor

The Vancouver Aquarium!!!!

He will actually BE the host of the dolphin show!!! How AMAZING is that! The first time we went to the aquarium he commented on how he could be the host when we watched the show...and now he IS!!!!

SO AWESOME! He's so excited and I can't wait to go see him!!!

Hopefully it's a very exciting summer!!

Sponsor Child

We would like to introduce our new sponsor child! With CCF of Canada we've sponsored Haymanot from Ethiopia! This is something I've wanted to do for so long, and something David did while he was in high school, but didn't have the means during university! I'm really excited to be doing something more than just locally, and helping a little person live a better life! If you can spare $35 a month to help someone who has maybe 1% if what we have. I really encourage you to do it.

May flowers

Well it'sbeen an interesting few months!!! Shawna's sister got married!!! She was a beautiful bride.
It's definitely got us excited for our wedding....five months seems like a really long time!!! Especially since there are two weddings before ours!!! I know the time will fly by....but still!!
It's been a nice time in Ontario minus the weather. We have a big Perry-Zegarra family meet and greet before we return to the coast....so hopefully that goes super well! Shawna is still working for the Canucks....but now it's a little stressful having to depend on them winning the rest of their game for another 2 weeks of work!!! It's going to be an interesting summer that's for sure!!

Olympics updates!

Well the Olympics are here and almost over. Which is bittersweet. It's been a lot of fun, but it's also cool to have the city back again.

My dad has been staying with us for the month. He's working at BC Place and Canada Hockey Place so he gets to see EVERYTHING.

Like Team Canada hockey practices and games!!!

So that's neat! and it's really nice to have family around!

Shawna (ME) has been working at Global TV for the duration of the Olympics doing graphics, which is funny because I never did any graphics before I came to Vancouver, then I learned them for the Canucks, and now I'm at Global!!! Awesomeness!

Sadly though, last week my grandpa died of a heart attack :( He was almost 89. It's sad, but I think everyone is doing ok with it. Not sure when the memorial service is yet.

Check out our Picasa page for LOADS of photos from the Olympics. TONS!

Christmas

Well well well... Hello (un)Faithful readers! Daaaaavid here. Just with an update!
The holidays have come and gone. Kind fo amazing how quickly they happened. Time and time again throughout december, Shawna kept saying "Christmas has such a build-up then poof it's gone!" And she was right. There was an incredible build to Christmas. Gifts. Decorating. Music. Eggnog. Then... AH! It's all gone by!

Regardless, the Christmas season started with a visit by my mom in early December. She was only here for a week, but it was really fun. We did lots of stuff. We went to the aquarium, watched Shawna's first 5k race and ate mongolian food! All in all a really good time!

But now it's done! She had a great time, and I am thankful for that. After that, it just became a matter of getting ready for Christmas. It was our first Christmas away from home. As much as we love and miss our respective families, it was nice to not have to run around and just spend it as the two of us. Hopefully the first of many together! It was a nice quiet Christmas. We went out and bought a little christmas tree. The idea is, when we take the decorations off, we can put it on the balcony and use it again next year. Hopefully the tree will survive and grow with us! :)

All in all a good Christmas. Shawna gota pompom sens hat and a gameboy color! And she knit me a scarf! Which Rocks. We had Christmas dinner with her cousin's family which was a blast. We are so blessed to have a family take us in like that!

So to summarize... Christmas 2009 FTW!
